Charles Joseph Muhlfeld, Jr., 78, passed away peacefully on July 6, 2014 at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital surrounded by his family and friends. He was the husband of Marcia Muhlfeld. He was born on October 5, 1935 to the late Charles Joseph Muhlfeld and Beatrice Stahley.

Charlie was an avid reader and a world traveler having visited over 50 countries as well as annual Caribbean cruises. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, stationed in Alaska. Charlie worked as an auto mechanic at Bob Sharp Motors in Wilton and Bantam Toyota. After retiring he went to work at American Back Plane. He was a life member of the Bantam Fire Company, serving as a line officer for five years, a Lieutenant for three years and a Captain for two years. Charlie, a cat lover; was especially fond of his beloved Noel who predeceased him. He was a serious Red Sox and UConn Huskies fan, and during country fair season he enjoyed the tractor pulls. Charlie will be remembered for his wit and humor.

In addition to his loving wife, Marcia, Charlie is survived by two daughters; Sandy Dennis and her partner Karen Ostrom, Chris Coe, granddaughter; Mariah Dice, and her partner Gabe Grant, brother; Eugene Muhlfeld, sister; Charlene Gay, several nieces and nephews and longtime friends; Robert and Pat Mosimann and William Lattrell. He was predeceased by a brother Robert Muhlfeld.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 19, 2014 at 11:30am at Litchfield United Methodist Church, 69 West Street, Litchfield, CT 06759. A reception will follow at the church.
