Loving Husband, Wonderful Father

Bantam - Benjamin Curtis Stoddard, Jr., 86, passed away suddenly on December 2, 2015. He was the loving husband of Janet (Phelps) Stoddard of 57 years. Ben was born on October 26, 1929 in Torrington, CT to the late Benjamin C. and Marjorie (Hallock) Stoddard.

He worked for 50 years for E.O. Phelps and Sons. He enjoyed country family reunion music, fishing, taking trips to Maine, walking the beach and constructing wooden crafts. He loved a game of mini-golf and star gazing, always wishing to fly into space and explore the Universe. Ben served in the Army during the Korean War from 1951- 1952.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son Brian Jay of Bantam, three sisters; Marjorie McHan, Mary Murphy, and Florence MacKenzie all of Bantam, also sisters; Judith Hammer and her husband Bob, Carolyn Butts and Lois Pinney and her husband Lewis and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son; Gregory Curtiss Stoddard and two brothers; George and Charles Stoddard.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, December 5, 2015 at 11:30am at Bantam Cemetery, Bantam Road, Bantam, CT. There will be no calling hours.
