Obituary for Nina Devine

Nina Cave Devine passed away peacefully in her home in Litchfield on Wednesday, October 22, 2014. She was predeceased by her husband of 51 years, Joseph Edward Devine, in 2012.

Nina was born in New York City on March 13, 1928 to Dr. Henry Wisdom Cave, chief of surgery at Roosevelt Hospital, and his wife Mary Thompson Cave. Following graduation from The Chapin School in New York, she matriculated at Bryn Mawr College, from which graduated in 1950 with an A.B. in History. She went on to serve as a teacher and librarian at the Harvey School in Katonah, NY, while raising four children in Wilton, CT. She was a member of the Cosmopolitan Club in New York, a trustee of the Wilton Public Library, and an active parish member of St. Michael’s Church in Litchfield.

Nina is survived by her four children, Henry Cave Devine of West Roxbury, MA, Joan Devine Morosani of Litchfield, CT, Nancy Devine Pike of Block Island, RI, Alison Devine Celico of Wakefield, RI, and nine grandchildren.

A funeral will be held at St. Michael’s Church at 2pm on Saturday, November 1. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to either the Wilton Public Library or the Oliver Wolcott Library in Litchfield.
