Thaddeus  Skoczylas Jr.
Thaddeus Skoczylas Jr, age 77 of Torrington, CT died August 20th, 2014 at his home.

Thaddeus was born in Bristol Connecticut on April 25, 1937 to the late Thaddeus and Jean (Hyatt) Skoczylas. He is survived by his loving wife Jeannette (Hurlbutt) Skoczylas of 55 years, son Robert B Skoczylas of Newburgh New York, son William Skoczylas and his wife Diane of Goshen Connecticut, daughter Suzanne Noreika and her husband Howard Noreika Jr. of Torrington Connecticut, Daughter Florence E Skoczylas of Granby Connecticut, and Daughter Mary H D’Angelo and husband Anthony of Torrington Connecticut; seven grandchildren Emily Noreika and her fiance Matthew Keepin, Jordan Noreika, Michael Skoczylas, Bryan Skoczylas, Molly D’Angelo, Logan D’Angelo, Donna Luderman and her husband Scott and his son Peter; and five grand dogs.
Thad is also survived by his brothers Gerald H Skoczylas and his wife Marion of Torrington Connecticut and James Skoczylas and his wife Patricia of East Greenwich Rhode Island, two nieces; one nephew; and two great nephews. He was predeceased by a sister Maryann Skoczylas; and a brother Jon Skoczylas of California.

Thad graduated from Bristol high school in 1955, and enlisted in the Army in 1956 where he served 6 years. He worked as a service manager for the family business Hunter Motors in Torrington Connecticut from 1954 to 1974. He then spent 25 years at the Torrington Company as a Maintenance Mechanic where he retired in 1999. In retirement he worked part time for Center Subaru.

He was a long time member of the Torrington Elks, UCONN Huskey basketball fan, an avid fisherman and car enthusiast. He loved spending his winters in Marco Island, Florida and summers in Cape Cod, Massachusetts.

Thad will be remembered as a gentle soul, loving and tender. He adored his family and friends, and enjoyed nothing more than spending time with his grandchildren. He had a smile that would light up a room and a heart of gold. Known by many, loved by all.

A wake will be held at Rowe funeral home, 283 Torrington Road, Litchfield, CT on Sunday August 24th from 4 PM to 7 PM Services will be held at Trinity Episcopal Church at 220 Prospect Street in Torrington, CT on Monday, August 25th at 11:00 a.m. with burial to follow at Hillside Cemetery in Torrington, CT. Friends are asked to meet directly at the church.
