Obituary for Thomas F. Dougherty Jr.
Thomas F. Dougherty Jr. 88, of Morris, CT passed away on Friday, May 30, 2014 at home with his family. He was the husband of Lorraine ( Gensler ) Dougherty.
Tom was born in Waterbury on April 26, 1926 to the late Thomas Sr. and Gertrude (Chandler ) Dougherty.
Tom attended the Waterbury school system. He worked at the Waterbury Republican American as a stereotyper and later in the composing room up to retiring.
He was a resident of Morris since 1956 and was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Navy.
Besides his wife Lorraine of 66 years he is survived by two sons, Thomas Dougherty and his wife Bonnie of Port Charlotte, FL and Mark Dougherty of Willimantic, CT. Tom had two grandchildren, three great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother James and sister Frances.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to VNA Northwest Hospice, 607 Bantam Road, Unit F, Bantam, CT 06750. There are no calling hours. A Graveside Service will be held at East Morris Cemetery, East Street, Morris, on Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at 1:00pm.
