Elizabeth (Gourley) Batterton, 93, died on December 12, 2015 at Baystate Medical Center. She was the widow of William G. Batterton who predeceased her on July 5, 2005.
Betty was born November 30, 1922, in Springfield Ma., daughter of William and Helen (Campbell) Gourley. She was educated in Springfield Schools, graduating from former Technical High School in June 1940 recipient of the three-year Honor Award and from the former Bay Path Institute of Commerce, recipient of the Bay Path Alumni Award for excellence in July 1941. She was employed by the Farm Credit Administration as secretary both in the Federal Land Bank and the Production Credit Corporation 1941-1953. She married in 1953 and lived in Plymouth CT working for the Iseli Swiss Screw Machine Co.; and with her husband a self-employed drywall contractor in the Waterbury CT area.
She was born again August 1934 and met with Christians Gathered Unto the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ in West Springfield, MA.
She leaves her sister Gertrude Westfort and spouse in Feeding Hills, MA; sister Dorothy Hanley and spouse in East Longmeadow Ma; sisters-in-law, Lucretia Batterton in Tampa FL; Ruth Chambers and spouse in Wycoff, NJ; Marjorie Gourley in North Conway NH and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at 11:00am at the Gospel Hall, 36 N. Main Street, Terryville, CT. Calling hours are from 10:00-11:00am. Burial will follow in West Cemetery, Plymouth.
