Edwin J. Becker
TORRINGTON – Edwin Joel Becker, 86, passed away at home with family by his side on Saturday, August 30, 2014. He was the loving husband of the late Julia Avallone Becker.
Ed was born in Hudson, New York, on March 19, 1928, one of thirteen children of the late Elbert Sr. and Evelyn (Shufelt) Becker.
Ed was a retiree of the Torrington Casting Company, where he worked for 49 years in machine setup.
He is survived by stepchildren, Karen Gardener and her husband, Charles, Ronald Avallone and his wife, Mary, and Robert Avallone and his wife, Wendy; two sisters, Juanita Sieller and her husband, Robert, and Evelyn Bergs and her husband, Ansis; a brother, Wayne Becker; two sisters-in-law, Norma Becker and Charlyne Becker; four grandchildren, Dawn, R.J., Courtney, and Sarah; and many nieces and nephews.
Ed was predeceased by nine brothers and sisters, Betty Leichner, Elbert Becker, Mildred Weigold, Beatrice Becker, Alvaretta Murray, Blanche Yancik, Grover Becker, Reginald Becker and Linda Dick.
All are invited to attend a Prayer Service at 1 p.m. on Monday, September 8, at Rowe Funeral Home, 283 Torrington Road, Litchfield. Burial will be private.
Donations may be made in Edwin’s memory to the American Lung Association of the Northeast, 460 Totten Pond Road, Suite 400, Waltham, MA 02451.
