Condolence: I'm saddened to hear of Mark's passing. He was a Captain at the Norwich armory and was my first commander in the Reserves in the late 80's to early 90's. I was proud to become a drill sergeant in his company. I couldn't have asked for a better commander. He went way above and beyond the call of duty to take care of the soldiers under his command. The Army Reserves was a better place because of his dedication to the mission and to taking care of his soldiers. I look forward to seeing him in heaven
You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Condolence: As yet another of the countless students whose lives Mr. Yanaway touched and shaped for the better, I am sending you my deepest condolences during this devastating time. As a student at Kenwood and beyond, I remember talking to Mark about faith and politics and education and the world, and he was a role model for me especially in his commitment to service, community, and family. His continued presence and support from afar was deeply meaningful to me, and I always looked forward to catching up in person someday. Remembering him, I am resolved to work harder and be more dedicated to justice and care. Anne, Abigail, and Henry, I am holding you in my heart. May the love of this extended community surround you and give you some warmth amidst the pain.

Condolence: Dear Anne, Abigail & Henry,
My heart aches for all of you, in the loss of your husband & father. Mark was an amazing man......a patriot & hero to our country, he was thoughtful, kind, brave, and so much more. He walked the walk of being a wonderful husband & amazing father. He loved you with a passion that can't be put into words. One of many fond memories I have is of Mark coming to dinner at our house, before he met Anne, and bringing with him the movie, Princess Bride. When he met you, Anne, you became his "princess bride". He adored you and it was obvious in the wonderful life the 2 of you built together. I will miss him dearly, but know one day we'll be with him again, for eternity, with Christ our Savior. Only then will we know why God called him home much too soon for us.

Condolence: Mark lives on in our memories, while he leaves a big hole in our hearts. We grieve with his family, especially Anne and their children. Trusting in God's love and mercy, we don't understand why one so young had to leave us. We pray for peaceful acceptance of God's will.
