Bruce Griswold Larson
-Loving husband and father

Goshen - Bruce Griswold Larson, 76, passed away on September 17, 2017 at his home. He was the husband of Cynthia Burton Larson. Bruce was born on August 21, 1941 in Torrington, Connecticut to the late Arvid E. and Phyllis G. Larson.

He was raised in Goshen, Connecticut and attended Goshen Center School and Wamogo Regional High School, where he graduated in 1959. Bruce then went on to earn a technical degree from Hartford Technical School. Bruce worked for the Torrington Company in quality assurance and was a well-loved bus driver for All-Star Transportation before retiring in 2015. Bruce served in the United States Army where he was stationed in Japan for several years.

Bruce was a member of the Goshen Volunteer Fire Department for over 50 years wherein he served as past assistant chief and commissioner. He also served as a member of the Region 6 Board of Education, American Legion, Northwest Connecticut Draft Horse Club, and the Goshen Agricultural Society for over 50 years. He loved spending time with his family and his little Rat Terrier dogs and big Belgian horses. Bruce enjoyed traveling to Amish Country in Pennsylvania and York Beach in Maine for yearly reunions with his beloved family. He was an avid fan of the Wamogo and Uconn girl’s basketball teams.

In addition to his wife of over 52 years, Cynthia of Goshen, Bruce is survived by his two sons Peter Larson and his wife Susan Haller Larson and their son Kyle, and Erik Larson, all of Goshen, his sister Barbara Caldwell of Coventry, his cousin Carole Alberti of Southington and several nieces and nephews. His brother John “Jack” E. Larson predeceased him.

In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Goshen Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 198, Goshen, CT 06756.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 23 at 1:00pm at the Church of Christ Congregational in Goshen, CT. Burial will follow at the Goshen Center Cemetery.
